Why heavy.

Most premium razors chase light. We went the other way. At 96.6 grams, CLOSE CALL keeps the blade steady and stops you from pressing, which is where irritation and nicks start. A copper handle gives it real heft, and makes it look like it belongs on the counter, not in the drawer.

What the weight does

It holds the angle. A heavier razor stays planted, so small wobbles in your wrist don't reach the blade.

It stops you pressing. Light razors make you push to feel contact. Here, the contact is already there.

It slows you down. A tool with heft asks for short, deliberate strokes, which is how a safety razor should be used anyway.

Heavy, not harsh

Weight doesn't make a razor aggressive. How close it cuts comes from the head: the blade gap and how much edge is exposed. The handle's job is to keep that head steady, and that's what the weight is for.

Questions

Is a heavy razor good for beginners?

We think so. The weight does the work your hand would otherwise try to do, and pressing is where most nicks start.

Will it feel too heavy in my hand?

It feels solid, not tiring. You hold it lightly near the end and let it rest on your skin. A shave takes a few minutes.

What is the handle made of?

The handle is copper with a gunmetal finish. The head is zinc alloy.

Ten blades in the box. Ships in 7–14 days.
